SCCC Caddie Program

Since 1924, the caddie program has been an important

part of the history and tradition of our Club. Our commitment

to the development of the young men and women who caddie here,

and their interest in golf, is an integral part of the culture of the Club.

2010 Orientation And Training Sessions

Caddie Orientation: Tuesday, April 6th at 5:00 p.m. in the Ballroom required for all new and returning caddies.

Caddie Training Dates:  April 13th and 14th
                                         4:00 p.m.

** New caddies are required to attend both sessions**

Caddie orientation and training is typically held the first and second weeks in April (weather permitting). At the initial orientation, those who have never caddied before are introduced to the Club, shown a video outlining caddie duties and given information sheets. Two training sessions are required. During these sessions, prospective caddies will tour the course and be instructed in the skills necessary to caddie at SCCC. Upon completion of the training sessions, a caddie exam will be given.

Caddie Requirements and Duties

Eligible caddie candidates must be at least 14 years old and able to carry a 35 pound golf bag for 18 holes (copy of birth certificate is required for registration).

A complete list and description of caddie duties can be found in the St. Charles Country Club Caddie Manual.

The Evans Scholars Program

In 1930, the Western Golf Association became the sponsor of the Evans Scholars Program, which was established by and named for Charles “Chick” Evans, Jr., a Chicago golf legend who wanted to give back to the game of golf.

Today, the Evans Scholars Foundation administers the nation’s largest privately funded college scholarship program. Each grant consists of full tuition and housing, and is renewable for up to four years. An Evans Foundation scholarship is a magnificent opportunity for college-bound caddies, and can be worth close to one hundred thousand dollars for a fortunate recipient. It is very wise to begin targeting this opportunity at the beginning of your caddie career and early in high school. Financial need, academic record and caddie record are the three critical components. You are able to apply for the scholarship in the summer between your Junior and Senior years. If you are interested in the Evans Scholar Program, please see your Caddie Master for more information.
