Club History

Intro

The rich history of the St. Charles Country Club dates to 1924, when the 200-acre Pollard farm was purchased by Dellora and Lester J. Norris for the purpose of constructing a golf course. Architects George Elmslie and the world-renowned Tom Bendelow were selected to design the SCCC clubhouse and golf course, respectively. With the course and clubhouse finally complete in 1926, SCCC officially opened its gates, welcoming the founding members to one of the finest clubs in the Midwest.

St. Charles Country Club has faced many challenges along the way to becoming west suburban Chicagoland’s most desirable private club, including the Great Depression, a 1944 that fire left the clubhouse in virtual ruins; and a land exchange with global accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. that led to the construction of seven new golf holes, plus the swimming pools, tennis courts and 34,000 square foot clubhouse that make up the SCCC we know today.

Facilities

Along with our world-class golf course and active men’s, ladies’ and juniors’ golf programs, SCCC offers a full practice area with driving range and putting green, an excellent caddie program, a fleet of well-maintained carts and a talented staff of teaching professionals.

If tennis is your game, the SCCC Tennis Center features twin tennis courts available exclusively for members and their guests. The immaculately maintained courts are staffed by a certified tennis professional who coordinates tennis programs for all ages and skill levels.

The Swim Center provides a fun and relaxing environment for all members. Facilities include a 25-meter pool with one-meter diving board; a separate wading pool; convenient locker facilities; and a shade-filled, fully-staffed cabana/snack bar.

Today’s St. Charles Country Club is a quietly elegant retreat where you’ll find plenty of camaraderie, competition, relaxation, and family fun with a level of personal service that’s second to none in the area. It truly is a place where world class meets your world.
