Junior Tennis
As one of the club’s most popular youth activities, SCCC
Junior Tennis serves up a variety of programs for more than
150 tennis-loving kids.
Tennis pro Chad Cummins and his staff build young players’ confidence, technique, tennis knowledge and sense of fair play—no matter a child’s skill level—through encouraging, effective and fun lessons (private and group), drills and entertaining events.
Kids as young as four years old are encouraged to participate in one or more of the following group lessons which take place on our four state-of-the-art hardcourts:
Quick Start and Aces (Ages 4-6 years) – These beginner classes utilize fun games to teach basic strokes with an emphasis on hand-eye coordination.
Junior Academy (Ages 7-12 years) – This class focuses on forehand and backhand production, along with volley and overhead techniques. Students will also be introduced to the tennis scoring system and rallying.
Junior Excellence (Ages 13 and over) – Continued work on all shots using proper grips and technique, with a focus on ground-stroke consistency and placement. Tactics for singles and doubles play will also be introduced.
Tournament Training – Perfect for juniors who are interested in taking their game to the next level. Emphasis is on match strategies, physical and mental discipline and specialty shots. Students can also take part in match play following class.
